ABOUT KRIS VAN ASSCHE

Balancing a nostalgic historical sense with radical modernism, Kris Van Assche has created a distinctive, refined world of nonchalant elegance.

Van Assche's work is characterised by attention to detail, a strong feel for ritual and the exacting depiction of a chic that evokes 'days gone by'.

Kris Van Assche was born in Belgium in 1976. Shortly after graduating from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he moved to Paris in 1998. After working at Yves Saint Laurent and then for Dior Homme, he began to show his original creations in January 2005. Today he heads his own label - KRISVANASSCHE, and has been artistic director for Dior Homme since April 2007.

Impelled by a vision of the man who takes the time to 'dress up', Kris Van Assche has embarked on an aesthetic quest, pursuing a new masculinity infused with poetry and authenticity.

ABOUT THE BAGS

In this collaboration, Kris Van Assche revisits the EASTPAK codes that made the brand so popular to bring them into his stylish and sophisticated world, where luxurious details as well as modern masculinity are of the essence.

In a strong urban spirit with cool elegance, Kris Van Assche has created 7 designs available in three combinations of fabric and colours.

As an echo to the black/grey/natural palette of his FW2011/2012 collection, the bags are a mix of sportswear influences, classical elegance and military details.

For instance, parachute cloth, leather and rough cotton are combined and smarten up the whole range.

The bags reflect the designers trademarks: flexible fabric and sobriety, internal structure and clean lines.

Each bag has a metal key ring, made out of two pieces that fit together, each part representing the name of the two brands.
